We stock and install LiftMaster-compatible welded gate components across Yonkers, with most fabrication jobs running $280 – $650 installed depending on the bracket, hinge plate, or weld repair your gate needs. If your LiftMaster opener is working but the gate itself sags, grinds, or won’t latch, the problem is usually a failed weld or a fatigued metal part, not the motor. Homeowners across Yonkers call us when a hinge has torn off, a post bracket has cracked, or an older gate has rusted through at a stress point. We carry common LiftMaster-compatible weld plates, hinge assemblies, and reinforcement brackets, and we can fabricate custom replacements when the original part is out of production.
What most Yonkers residents don’t realize is that LiftMaster doesn’t manufacture gates. They make the openers. The welded steel frame and hardware come from third-party fabricators, which means every gate ages differently depending on the original weld quality, the steel gauge, and how many Hudson Valley winters it has absorbed. That’s where our fabrication work comes in.
Which LiftMaster Models This Applies To
LiftMaster’s opener compatibility isn’t the issue here. The welding and fabrication side applies to the physical gate the opener is attached to. If you have a LiftMaster LA400, LA500, RSW12, or the newer residential swing and slide operator lines, the opener bolts onto a steel post bracket, a hinge plate, or a track assembly that was welded at installation. Those components are model-dependent in how they mount, but the metalwork itself is universal: mild steel, MIG welded, occasionally galvanized, and always exposed to the elements.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners miss: the post bracket spacing differs between slide and swing operators. A bracket from an LA400 swing installation will not match an RSW12 slide application without modification. We measure the bolt pattern, the post diameter, and the throw distance before recommending any replacement part. On the OEM-vs-aftermarket question, we’re straightforward: for weld-on brackets and hinge plates, a quality aftermarket piece built from 3/16″ or 1/4″ steel matches or exceeds the original. For anything that bolts directly to the opener, we recommend LiftMaster OEM. Calder Gate Repair Yonkers is an independent service provider, not an authorized LiftMaster dealer, so we can be honest about which parts justify the brand premium and which don’t.

Signs Your LiftMaster Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags away from the hinge post at the top or bottom. A broken weld at the hinge plate will let the gate lean a few degrees. That angle puts extra strain on the opener gearbox, and within a few weeks you’ll hear new, expensive noises from the motor.
- You can see daylight between the bracket and the post. If a weld seam has cracked, the bracket will separate from the post in small increments, often visible as a rust line spreading from the joint. This tells us the galvanizing or paint failed first, then the weld followed.
- The opener slams the gate harder than it used to. LiftMaster openers run on a closing force profile. When a weld fails, the gate’s weight distribution shifts, and the opener has to shove harder. That’s a symptom, not a setting problem.
- The gate scrapes the driveway or catches on one side. A fatigued weld lets the gate drop or twist. In Yonkers, freeze-thaw cycles push concrete up seasonally, so we see some gates with perfectly fine welds that need a fabricated shim plate instead of a full replacement.
- Rust bleeding from any welded joint. This is the early warning. Once moisture gets into a weld crevice, the steel oxidizes from the inside out. We’d rather fabricate and replace the part now than have it shear clean off at 7:00 a.m. on a cold Yonkers morning.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Most LiftMaster welding and fabrication work in Yonkers lands between $280 and $650, with the median around $420. A straightforward hinge plate replacement or bracket reinforcement runs $280 – $360, including cutting out the failed member, prepping the post, welding the new part, and a cold-galvanize finish. Custom fabrication for an older Yonkers gate, where the original part no longer exists and we have to build a template from the gate’s existing geometry, runs $450 – $650. If the post itself has failed at grade, that’s a replacement project, not a weld repair, and we’ll tell you that before anything gets cut.
Every quote on welding and fabrication work includes the same three things: a written price before any work starts, a written guarantee on the work, and a free second visit if the repair fails within 365 days under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. The number on the invoice is the number you agreed to, no surprises. We also photograph before and after so you can see exactly what was done.
DIY or Call Us?
There’s a version of this repair a homeowner can do safely: tighten through-bolts, clear built-up debris from the track, mark a rust line with a paint pen and watch it for a month. Those are legitimate checks. But here’s where DIY goes wrong on this work: welding on a gate post without knowing the steel gauge leads to burn-through, and an overheated weld on a galvanized post releases zinc fumes that will make you sick. A bad weld on a swing gate hinge can also fail catastrophically while the gate is in motion, and the moving end of a sagging gate hits harder than most people expect. Nico Alvarez has watched homeowners attempt exactly that, and the repair bill after a failed home weld is always higher than it would have been originally.
If you can see the problem but don’t know the right fix, call us at (585) 496-2148. Tell me what the gate is doing wrong, and we’ll tell you exactly what it needs and what it costs. No runaround.
FAQs
A quality weld with proper galvanizing or paint protection lasts 12 – 20 years in Yonkers, assuming the gate is adjusted properly and the opener isn’t slamming it. Gates with untreated welds, or welds on 14-gauge steel that should have been 11-gauge, can fail within 5 – 7 winters. We see the difference every spring out near Greystone, where older installations with hand-built gates still hold up because the original fabricator used heavier steel and took the time to coat the joints.
Sometimes, and we’ll tell you honestly. A cracked weld on a gate that’s otherwise square can often be ground out and re-welded with a reinforcement gusset for 60 – 70% of the price of a new bracket. But if the steel has rusted thin enough that a screwdriver can poke through, or the crack is at a fatigue point that will move stress to a new location, we will not waste your money on a short-term repair. Call (585) 496-2148 and we’ll help you figure out which one you have.
Most single-part weld replacements take 90 minutes to 2 hours, including prep, welding, cooling, and a cold-galvanize finish. Custom fabrication with a template takes longer, usually a half-day, because we build the part to match your gate’s specific mounting points rather than hoping a stock bracket fits. We’ll give you a straight time estimate when we see the gate, and the written price covers the full job, not the hour.
We stock the most common weld-on hinge plates, post brackets, and reinforcement gussets on the truck, and we fabricate non-standard parts in the shop. If your gate uses an uncommon mounting spec, we’ll tell you on the phone before dispatch whether we have it or need to build it. We also stock parts for Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing systems, so if the opener is a different brand on the same gate, we can handle the full repair in one visit.
