Every gate repair in Yonkers has a name attached to it before the truck ever leaves the shop. That’s how we run things here. This crew isn’t a rotating cast of subcontractors. We’re the same faces you’ll see in Getty Square, Ludlow, Lincoln Park, and over by the Saw Mill River. What unites us is simple: we believe a gate should close the way it closed the day it was installed, and we don’t leave until it does. Nico Alvarez leads the team, but the work gets done by people who know Yonkers and hate half-fixes as much as you do.

Our People
Nico Alvarez – Owner and Lead Technician
Nico founded the Yonkers location after years of watching gate companies sell replacements when a $40 limit switch – the small sensor that tells the gate when to stop – would have solved the problem. He’s factory-familiar with LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, and Mighty Mule systems, and he’s the one who insists every job gets a written price before any work starts. When he’s not tracking down a short in a circuit board, he’s usually under a slide gate in Beech Hill explaining to a homeowner why their gate has been held together by faith and zip ties. He speaks the way he works: clear, unhurried, and honest about what something costs and why.
Marcus T. – Senior Installer
Marcus has twelve years in commercial and residential gate installation, and he’s the one who handles most of the heavier structural work – bent tracks, sagging cantilever gates, posts that have shifted after a rough Westchester winter. He’s Viking- and DoorKing-certified and can read a gate’s wear patterns the way some people read a weather report. If a gate in Runyon Heights needs to be squared up and re-hung, Marcus is usually the one doing it. He’s also the crew’s unofficial meteorologist, which matters more than you’d think when you’re torquing bolts on a hillside off Nepperhan Avenue.
Elena R. – Service Coordinator
Elena is the voice on the other end of (585) 496-2148 when you call at 11 p.m. because your gate won’t close and you don’t want the dog making a break for it. She’s been dispatching for six years and keeps the schedule tight without promising times the crew can’t hit. Elena tracks every job from the first call to the final invoice, and she’s the reason every customer gets a live, trackable arrival time instead of a four-hour window. She knows the difference between a Ghost Controls opener and an Elite board well enough to troubleshoot basic resets over the phone, which saves people a service call more often than they’d expect.
Devon P. – Apprentice Technician
Devon joined the crew two years ago and is the one shadowing every kind of repair before touching a job solo. He’s currently working through his training on FAAC and Linear operators, and he handles a lot of the diagnostic legwork – testing photo eyes, checking battery backups, and running continuity tests on wiring. He grew up in Yonkers and knows the difference between a gate that’s slow because of cold weather and one that’s slow because the motor is on its way out. If you see a second set of hands on your job, it’s probably Devon, and he’s the reason our senior techs can finish faster without cutting corners.
One Standard, Every Job
Calder Gate Repair Yonkers is independently owned and operated within the Relay Home Co. network, which means this team answers to local customers, not a corporate office in another state. What ties us to the network is The Relay Standard: a live arrival time the moment a job is booked, before-and-after photos of every repair, and a digital invoice you pay from a link – no paper, no surprises. Every job also carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise by name. If a repair fails within 365 days, Calder makes it right with a free return visit. That’s not a courtesy call. It’s written on every job sheet, every time, because Nico won’t put his name on a repair that’s only good for a month.
