If your FAAC gate has a cracked hinge, a snapped bracket, or a torn weld on the arm mount, we stock and install FAAC-compatible welding and fabrication parts across Yonkers, typically for $220 – $480 installed depending on the component and access. Most jobs are done same-day once we confirm the part matches your FAAC model. The usual story we hear: the gate starts sagging on one side, then it binds at the open or close position, and eventually the operator strains hard enough to break something that was already rusted thin behind the paint.
That’s the thing with welded steel parts on gates: they fail slowly, then all at once. A hairline crack opens up at a stress point, water gets in, and one cold Yonkers winter later you’ve got a gate half on the ground and an opener fighting a load it was never designed for. Nico Alvarez and our crew have pulled more than a few FAAC arms off gates near Greystone where the weld held longer than it had any business holding. The fix isn’t mysterious, but matching the right fabrication spec to the right FAAC series is where it gets specific.
Which FAAC Models This Applies To
FAAC uses welded steel components across several popular gate opener series. The hydraulic 400 series (like the 402, 415, and 422) uses a welded ram mount bracket and a piston clevis that takes repeated torque every time the gate cycles. The electromechanical 770 and S800 series use a gearbox bracket and arm assembly where the welds carry both the weight of the leaf and the force of the operator. If you’re not sure which series you have, look on the operator housing: FAAC stamps a model number on a metal plate or sticker, usually on the underside near the release key.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha we see all the time in Yonkers: the 400-series hydraulic brackets look almost identical to the S800-series brackets from three feet away, but the bolt spacing and the angle of the arm clevis are off by millimeters. If the bracket is welded onto the gate post already, you can’t just eyeball it. We measure the bolt centers before ordering or fabricating anything. For OEM FAAC parts, the welded components come unpainted and sometimes have a zinc undercoat that needs primer before they go on in our climate. Quality aftermarket equivalents are usually 30 – 40% cheaper and, for brackets and mounts, are often made from the same gauge steel in the same Turkish or Italian factories. For anything that carries the actual load of the gate leaf, especially the arm itself, we recommend OEM or a domestic fabricator we trust. That’s where most of the failures come from.

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags toward the latch side. The bottom hinge weld has stretched or cracked, and the leaf is now levering against the operator instead of swinging freely. You’ll notice the gate scraping the driveway or the latch barely catching.
- The opener makes a grunt or strain when the gate first starts moving. That’s the hydraulic ram or motor fighting a seized pivot on the welded arm. The weld itself hasn’t failed yet, but the heat and friction at that joint are eating through it.
- There’s visible rust weeping from a painted seam. The crack is already there behind the paint. Rust expands, paint splits, and the telltale brown line is water that got into a stress fracture.
- The gate shudders partway through its travel. A partially broken weld lets the arm flex under load, then bind. It feels like the gate hits an invisible bump every cycle.
- You can hear a metallic pop when the gate reverses direction. That’s the bracket shifting against the post as the weld flexes. If you hear it once, it won’t fix itself, and the next failure is likely to be sudden.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Yonkers, a welded FAAC component installed by Calder Gate Repair runs from $220 to $480. That includes us matching the part to your exact FAAC model, removing the failed component, prepping the mounting surface, installing the new one, and cycling the gate repeatedly to confirm the operator is no longer fighting the load. The spread covers the difference between a small hinge bracket on a 400-series single gate at the low end, and a full arm and clevis assembly on an S800 double gate toward the top.
Every job gets the same three things, in writing: a price agreed before we touch a bolt, a written guarantee on the repair under our 365-Day Done Right Promise, and a free second visit if the repair fails within that year. We quote the part cost and the labor separately, so you know exactly what you’re paying for. No markup games, no surprise line items on the invoice.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check the model number, take photos of the damaged part from a few angles, and note where the gate is binding or sagging. That helps us confirm the right FAAC series before we dispatch, and it keeps the truck stocked with the components we’re actually going to use.
What you should not do is weld on a gate operator bracket yourself. The hydraulic 400-series components are under pressure even at rest, and the electrical wiring runs inside or along the mounting arm ducting. The welds on these arms aren’t simple flat beads either: FAAC uses specific angles and penetration depths to handle the torque. A cold weld can look fine for a week and then shear while someone is under the gate. That’s not a scare line, it’s the reality of a metal leaf that weighs more than most people expect. If you smelled burning plastic or saw scorch marks near the operator, kill power at the breaker and call us at (585) 496-2148. We’ll get someone out to Yonkers same day.
FAQs
Around 8 to 12 years, depending on how close the gate sits to road salt and how often it cycles. Gates near Saw Mill River Road or any street that gets heavy winter salting tend to lose two or three years off the same part compared to a gate set back from the road. Regular enamel or powder coat touch-up when the paint chips will extend that life more than anything else.
Sometimes yes. If the crack hasn’t traveled more than a few millimeters and the surrounding steel still has structural thickness, we can grind out the crack, TIG weld it, and refinish the seam. If the steel has rusted from the inside out, which we see often on older FAAC 402 units, replacing the component is the honest call. Call (585) 496-2148 and describe what you’re seeing. Nico can usually diagnose it over the phone in under five minutes.
Most FAAC welding and fabrication replacements in Yonkers take 60 to 90 minutes from the time we arrive. That includes removing the old part, prepping the surface, installing the new component, and running the gate through multiple full cycles. If there’s a pre-existing issue with the operator itself that the broken part’s been masking, we’ll show you what we’re seeing before we run the invoice.
We carry the common 400-series brackets, clevises, and hinge components on the truck for most Yonkers calls, along with stock deep enough to cover aftermarket equivalents for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls too. If it’s a less common FAAC arm or a custom fabrication for an odd post angle, we order it or make it, and you’ll know that before the truck rolls.
Tell us what the gate is doing wrong and we’ll tell you exactly what it needs and what it costs. No runaround. Calder Gate Repair is an independent service provider, part of the Relay Home Co. family, established in 2009. We’re not affiliated with FAAC, but we’ve worked on enough of their operators across Yonkers to know which welds fail first and why.
